The Dallas Mavericks will find out early what they have in free agent acquisition Chandler Parsons.
The Mavericks’ preseason schedule was released Thursday.
On Oct. 7 the Mavericks open preseason play at home against the Houston Rockets, the team Parsons played for the past three seasons. The Rockets did not match the three-year, $46 million restricted free-agent offer sheet Dallas signed the 6-foot-9 small forward to earlier this month.
After that game, the Mavericks will host Oklahoma City and small forward Kevin Durant, the NBA’s reigning Most Valuable Player and the player Parsons most likely will be guarding.

On Oct. 12, Dallas will entertain small forward Paul George and the Indiana Pacers. The Mavericks also play the Pacers in Indiana on Oct. 18, with George being the All-Star who most likely will be defended by Parsons.
On Oct. 17, the Mavericks will face the Cavaliers in Cleveland, who has the game’s best player in LeBron James. Parsons will also likely be guarding him.
In the Mavericks’ remaining three preseason games, they’ll host Vince Carter and the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 20, then hit the road for back-to-back games on Oct. 23 and 24 at New Orleans and Orlando, respectively.
The NBA will release the regular-season schedule in August. The regular season is slated to start Oct. 28.
