Without their best defender Saturday night, the Fort Worth Vaqueros showed little fight in a 7-1 loss to the Tulsa Athletics.
Tulsa took its first lead in the fifth minute and never looked back. The Athletics built a 3-0 lead before Vaqueros defender Joseph Cervantes was shown a red card for a hand ball in the penalty area.
“We again got off to another slow start conceding goals from errors,” coach Mark Snell told the team’s website. “Then we seemed to lose our confidence, and the red card capped it all off before halftime.”
Fort Worth fell to 0-3 with 14 goals allowed in games without defender Jacob Speed, who missed the match due to a lingering ankle issue.
