Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish had a little fun – even in defeat on Wednesday night – with the to-do made about his being struck on top of the head by a batted ball during batting practice the day before.

Asked if it had any effect on a performance in which he gave up six runs on 10 hits over six innings of an 8-4 loss to Houston, the flame thrower demonstrated the wit he's become known for.

“I was going between life and death last night,” Darvish joked through remarks relayed by his interpreter. “I also told my interpreter I left a will to my interpreter [and] that if I didn’t wake up in the morning, please say ‘hi’ to everyone. Fortunately, I was able to wake up this morning and felt good.”
