Pitching: Starter Colby Lewis allowed four runs in the second when the Astros erupted for two homers, a double and a triple. But Lewis regrouped and retired 15 of the next 16 batters he faced including 14 in a row. Roman Mendez replaced Lewis with one out in the eighth and induced a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. Neftali Feliz and Shawn Tolleson each pitched scoreless innings of relief. Logan Verrett pitched the 13th and 14th innings and surrendered the game-winning two-run homer to Hank Conger.
Hitting: The Rangers had the bases loaded with one out in the fourth but Adam Rosales grounded into an inning-ending double play. The Rangers finally got on the board in the seventh when Leonys Martin singled up the middle on the first pitch he saw with the bases loaded to score two. The hit snapped an 0 for 18 skid for Martin.
