Mike Napoli took a seat Sunday afternoon even though he swatted two home runs Saturday in his second game off the disabled list.

It wasn’t easy for Texas Rangers manager Jeff Banister to do, but he doesn’t want Napoli to have any setbacks with his back strain.

“I already committed myself to two days and a day off, and then he goes out and hits two,” Banister said. “I think staying strict with it will be beneficial.”

The Rangers are only three games into their stretch of 20 games in 20 days, and Banister said that Carlos Gomez, also reinstated from the DL on Friday, will get a day off sooner than later to protect his right hamstring.

Regulars will get time, too.

“All these guys,” Banister said.

Napoli said that he will continue to stay on top of his core program in an effort to keep his back healthy after a strain and back spasms sent him to the DL on June 6.
