More than 50,000 votes were cast for the latest dfwVarsity volleyball player of the week from Sept. 18-23.

Weatherford junior outside hitter Carissa Barnes received 27,692 votes. The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi commit had a team-high 13 kills, .765 hitting percentage, two aces and 14 digs on Sept. 19 vs. Timber Creek.

She added four kills, three aces and nine digs on Sept. 22 vs. Fossil Ridge. The Kangaroos, ranked No. 9 in the TGCA Class 6A state poll and No. 2 in area rankings, improved to 31-5 and 5-0 in District 3-6A vs. Abilene on Tuesday night.

Burleson freshman setter Mia Smalls came in second place with 17,323 votes. She had 65 combined assists as the Elks beat Everman and Arlington Seguin.
