Junior running back T.J. McDaniel rushed for 311 yards and five touchdowns as Southlake Carroll powered its way to a 42-0 victory over McKinney in a 6A Division II bi-district playoff game at Dragon Stadium on Friday night. The Dragons piled up 541 yards of total offense, limiting the Lions to 146.
Key players: McDaniel rushed 13 times for 274 yards and four touchdowns in the first half, scored again on the opening drive of the second half, then sat out the rest of the game. Dragons quarterback Will Bowers completed 13 of 15 passes for 142 yards, with a six-yard touchdown to R.J. Mickens. McKinney running back Matt Gadek, the area’s leading rusher who set the UIL record for rushing yards in a game a month ago, was limited to 61 yards on 21 carries.

Key stats: Carroll scored on all five of its first-half possessions, building a 35-0 lead. In the second quarter, McDaniel had back-to-back runs of 70 and 72 yards, while McKinney finished with 82 yards of total office in the first half. Subtracting the two big runs, McDaniel still had more yards rushing (132) than McKinney had total offense.
