Host Nolan Catholic shut out Joshua 27-0 in a match between a private and public school Friday night. The Vikings scored in each quarter.
Key players: The Vikings’ Rory Mitchell rushed 19 times for 102 yards and the Vikings’ first touchdown, a 20-yard run. It capped the opening drive of the game, 66 yards in nine plays. Quarterback Luke Macias had the second touchdown, a swing pass to Trae King that the receiver converted into a 69-yard touchdown. Macias was 10-15-0 for 169 yards.
Key stat: Joshua was held to eight first downs and 104 total yards of offense. Of that amount, 90 yards were through the air by quarterback Josh Kelso. Twice off of turnovers, the Owls began drives on the Nolan 33- and 36-yard lines but were unable to capitalize.
