After recovering the onside kick to start the game, Cleburne jumped out to a 7-0 lead. But Mansfield Legacy scored 49 unanswered points on the way to rout the Yellow Jackets 56-21 Thursday in a Class 5A Division I Region II bi-district playoff game at Midlothian. The Broncos meet Dallas Spruce, a 28-20 winner Thursday against Dallas Adams, in the next round.
Key players: Legacy QB Kendall Catalon went 7-of-8 passing for 165 yards, completing his first seven passes and throwing four TDs all in the first half. Catalon also ran for three scores. Broncos RB Kameron Sessions rushed 13 times for 112 yards. Cleburne QB Tre’von Bradley passed for 174 yards on 13-of-19 passing and one TD. Yellow Jackets RB Isaiah Romero rushed for 88 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown.
Key stat: Legacy rolled up 499 yards of offense, including 318 in the first half. Cleburne totaled 325 yards, but was held to just 121 yards in the first half. The Broncos scored on six of seven first-half possessions and the defense intercepted the Yellow Jackets three times.
