Heritage advances easily with rout of Arlington Heights

Colleyville Heritage reeled off 43 straight points before Fort Worth Arlington Heights answered with a late score as the Panthers cruised past the Yellow Jackets 50-16 in a Class 5A Division I bi-district playoff game Thursday at Rough Rider Stadium in Saginaw. Heritage quarterback Camden Roane threw three touchdown passes, and Mario Ortiz rushed for 101 yards and a score. Next for Heritage is the winner of Friday’s Justin Northwest at Denton game.

Key players: Germon Thothian scored for Heritage on a 21-yard catch, a 35-yard punt return, and added a 2-point conversion run. Sage Hebb picked off a short Heights pass and returned it 30 yards for another touchdown to make it 36-9.

Key stat: The Panthers’ defense limited Heights to 66 yards in the second half. Yellow Jackets running back Da’Jour Traylor had 52 of those yards on the ground. He finished with 80. Roane threw only 14 times, but completed nine passes for 122 yards.

Records: Colleyville Heritage 8-3; Arlington Heights 8-3
