Early big plays overwhelm Lake Worth

Midlothian Heritage used big plays in the first half to build a 38-0 lead as the Jaguars cruised past Lake Worth 55-0 in a Class 4A Region II Division I bi-district playoff game Thursday night at the Gopher-Warrior Bowl in Grand Prairie. Heritage sophomore quarterback Landon Ledbetter opened the game with four consecutive touchdown passes, two each to junior Kerrion Fields and sophomore Noah Parker.

Key players: Ledbetter completed 14 of 18 passes for 385 yards and five scores. Fields caught touchdown passes of 46, 45 and 12 yards on the way to six catches for 159 yards. Parker finished with four catches for 134 yards and two scores. Heritage kicker Hogan Keasler hit a 45-yard field goal at the end of the first half. Making his first varsity start was Lake Worth quarterback Tremaine Forrest, who passed for 64 yards.

Key stat: This was the Jaguars first playoff game. Heritage, a first-year UIL program, meets the winner of Friday’s game between Liberty-Eylau and Kaufman in the area round of the playoffs.
