Centennial’s Kelton Tezeno intercepted a pass in overtime to give the Spartans a 28-21 victory over Everman in a District 9-5A game at J.E. Marr Stadium. Tezeno scored on runs of 56 and 16 yards. The loss also dashed Everman’s playoff hopes.
Key players: Centennial’s Darrell Williams scored on runs of 6 yards in the third quarter and a 21 yards in overtime. The Spartans’ defense came up with back-to-back big plays in OT. Andrew Walker sacked Keonte Lusk, and Tezeno’s interception ended in on the next play. Kenneth Johnson led Everman with 128 yards rushing and a TD.
Key stat: Centennial set a school record with nine wins in the regular sesaon and will play Mansfield Timberview at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mansfield’s Vernon Newsom Stadium in a Class 5A Region II Division II bi-district game.
