Four interceptions help Country Day picks off SPC Class 3A championship
Country Day rushed for 329 yards and intercepted four passes as the Falcons smashed Irving Cistercian 52-17 to win the SPC Class 3A championship at All Saints’ McNair Stadium. Ross Biggs rushed for 172 yards and two scores, and Joseph Breedlove caught two TD passes from Brad Chilcoat.
Key players: Chilcoat averaged 44.3 yards on four punts, kicked a 27-yard field goal, intercepted a pass and pinned Cistercian inside its 8-yard line twice. Turner Symonds had two interceptions for the Falcons.
Key stat: Country Day spread 53 of its 55 carries nearly evenly among three rushers (16, 17 and 20). Cistercian quarterback Max Schieferdecker had 29 incompletions (18 for 47).
