Everman rallies in second half to upset Crowley

Down 14-0 after the first quarter and 21-7 at halftime, Everman outscored Crowley 26-8 in the second half to upset the District 9-5A leader 33-29. Everman scored 19 points in the fourth quarter, capping the comeback on a 95-yard interception return by Que’tyn Turentine for a TD with 3:16 left. Crowley last drive ended with a fumble in Everman territory with 44 seconds remaining. Crowley had already clinched a playoff berth, but Everman in the playoff hopes alive.

Key players: Everman running back Kenneth Johnson rushed 116 yards and two TDs. Crowley’s Mook Haley rushed for 143 yards, including a 70-yard TD run, and Rodrick Williams added 129 yards. Javan Howard caught four passes for 101 yards, including a 63-yard score.

Key stat: Everman’s comeback was aided by five Crowley (three fumbles and two interceptions).

Records: Crowley 8-1, 5-1 9-5A; Everman 6-3, 4-2 in 9-5A.
