Lancaster clinches playoff spot

DeMadric Williams’ 5-yard touchdown run with 20 seconds remaining lifted Lancaster to a 42-35 win over Waxahachie at Humphrey Stadium. The win gives Lancaster at least a share of the District 10-5A title and clinches the top seed in the 5A Division II playoffs out of the district.

Key players: Waxahachie receiver and TCU commit Kennedy Snell ran for 95 yards and a touchdown on just four carries and also had three receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown. Lancaster quarterback Trevor Hatton threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns.

Key stat: Lancaster was minus-three in turnover margin and trailed by 14 twice in the first half, but scored 21 straight points to take its first lead at 35-28 in the third quarter.

Records: Waxhachie, 6-3, 3-3; Lancaster, 8-1, 6-0
