First-year varsity team Fort Worth Young Men’s Leadership Academy earned the first win in school history Friday night with a 34-0 victory over Fort Worth North Side at Scarborough-Handley Field.
Key Players: Fort Worth YMLA junior quarterback Bryan Cottingim threw for 145 yards and rushed for 199 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown run. Teammate Curtis Kirby caught five passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Tyson Haynes-Jones caught two touchdown passes. Running back J’eon Burnett gained 47 yards on 11 carries. North Side running back Victor Narvaez rushed for 55 yards and Jose Rivera rushed for 43 yards.
Key Stat: YMLA overcame 95 yards in penalties to pull through with the victory.
