District 7-5A leader Fort Worth South Hills dominated winless YMLA 56-0 at Clark Stadium. The Scorpions scored 21 points in each of the first two quarters to take a 42-0 lead before a running clock was enacted in the second half. South Hills compiled 477 total yards, while holding YMLA to 91. More than one-fourth of YMLA’s yards came on the final drive of the game.
Key players: South Hills RB Kyran Jackson rushed for 192 yards on nine carries, scoring twice on TD runs of 59 and 81 yards. Scorpions QB Trey Jones completed 9 of 11 passes for 208 yards, throwing for four touchdowns. Jones also ran for 77 yards and two more scores. South Hills WR Tylan Wallace caught seven passes for 134 yards and three TDs. YMLA RB J’eon Burnett rushed 19 times for 60 yards.
Key stat: YMLA punted for negative yardage twice on its first three attempts. The Scorpions’ first five scoring drives took five plays or fewer. South Hills’ defense put its offense in prime position with two first-half interceptions.
