Mansfield Summit races past Midlothian for third straight win

Mansfield Summit scored four second-half touchdowns to pull away from Midlothian in a 42-21 victory Friday at Midlothian ISD Multi-Purpose Stadium. The Jaguars have now won back-to-back District 10-5A games by a margin of at least three touchdowns after dropping each of their first three 10-5A contests.

Key players: The Jaguars got a huge push from tailback Derek Johnson, who scored two touchdowns on the ground and another receiving. Johnson finished the night with 158 total yards of offense, and his two third-quarter touchdowns prevented Midlothian from making the game closer.

Key stat: The Jaguars scored on passing plays of 33 and 69 yards, the latter a Brysen McKinney-to-Johnson connection just before the break.

Records: Summit 4-4, 2-3 10-5A; Midlothian 1-7, 0-5.
