Arlington Seguin rallies late to beat Cleburne

After Cleburne scored three consecutive touchdowns, the third to tie it with 1:44 remaining, Arlington Seguin won the District 9-5A game 37-30 on a screen pass from Jordan Palacpac to Vertis Garrett, who scored from 47 yards out with 19 seconds left.

Key players: Arlington Seguin quarterback Mykelti Carelock rushed for 183 yards with a touchdown and was 5-of-7 passing for 108 yards passing and two touchdowns. Cleburne quarterback Tre’Von Bradley was 14-of-25 passing for 187 yards, and he rushed for 169 yards and four TDs.

Key stat: Cleburne lost its third straight. Arlington Seguin didn’t pass much, but when the Cougars did, they were efficient. Seguin completed 6-of-8 attempts for 155 yards and three TDs.

Records: Seguin 5-2, 3-1 9-5A; Cleburne 4-3, 1-3.
