Castleberry spoiled the Diamond Hill-Jarvis homecoming with a 38-7 defeat of the Eagles in a District 5-4A Division I opener Saturday at Farrington Field. Scoring on their first five possessions and six of their first seven, the Lions built a 38-0 halftime lead.
Key players: Castleberry QB Michael Dameron completed 9-of-11 passes, including his first nine straight, for 141 yards and three TDs. Castleberry WR Fabian Gage caught two of those scoring passes and finished with three catches for 75 yards. Castleberry RB Turner Middleton rushed for 67 yards and a TD.
Key stat: Castleberry rolled up 337 total yards with a balanced attack (187 yards passing, 150 yards rushing), while its defense held the Eagles to 120 total yards and only 18 yards in the first half. Castleberry started drives on the Eagles’ side of the field on each of its first five possessions.
