QB’s 5 TDs power Mansfield Lake Ridge over Red Oak

Mansfield Lake Ridge quarterback Jason Bean rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 163 yards and two scores to lead the Eagles past Red Oak 45-29 on Friday in a District 10-5A game at Red Oak.

Key players: Bean, a junior, had TD runs of 20, 25 and 51 yards. He threw a 48-yard TD pass to Cartraven Walker for the game’s first points, and a 15-yard TD pass to Tyler Robinson, who also threw for a touchdown.

Key stat: At halftime Red Oak honored alum and Olympic shot put gold medalist Michelle Carter, who graduated from Red Oak 13 years ago. “It felt great because this is home for me,” Carter said. “This is where I started throwing and this is where I went to school.”

Records: Lake Ridge 4-2, 2-1 10-5A; Red Oak 2-4, 0-3.
