Everman rolls over Burleson for first 8-5A win

Everman quarterback Keonte Lusk rolled right, found a crease and scored on a 26-yard run with 10:22 left Friday to lift the Bulldogs to their first District 8-5A victory 22-16 over Burleson at Burleson ISD Stadium. The Elks had two second-half field-goal attempts blocked.

Key players: Lusk rushed for 75 yards and threw for 70 and a TD. Sir Dexter Gay caught a TD pass and Dwight Tucker rushed for a score. Jaylen Johnson caught six for 93 yards, and Aden Anderson scored the Elks’ lone TD. Hayden Whitten made three field goals.

Key stat: After consecutive 200-yard passing games, Everman held Whitten to 117 yards though the air. Everman managed just 15 yards and no first downs in the second quarter.
