Grapevine builds quick lead, blanks FW Carter-Riverside

The undefeated Grapevine Mustangs jumped out to a quick 28-0 lead in the first quarter on their way to a 58-0 District 8-5A victory Friday over Fort Worth Carter-Riverside at Mustang-Panther Stadium in Grapevine.

Key players: Grapevine quarterback Alan Bowman completed 12 passes for 136 yards and three TDs. Roshawn Prear caught one TD pass and ran for another. He had six carries for 68 yards. Carter-Riverside receiver Tony Collins had three catches for 53 yards.

Key stat: Grapevine kept the Eagles out of their end of the field until late in the fourth quarter, giving up only three first downs and 70 total yards. It was the second consecutive shutout for the Mustangs.

Records: Grapevine 6-0, 3-0 8-5A; Carter-Riverside 3-3, 1-2.
