FW Nolan Catholic can’t overcome slow start

Fort Worth Nolan Catholic had trouble with Plano Prestonwood Christian’s passing game and the Lions knocked off the Vikings 34-14 Friday at Lions Stadium.

Prestonwood (7-1, 5-0 TAPPS Division I, District 1) was led by quarterback Ryan Cash, who threw for 394 yards, including a 98-yard strike to Michael Irving in the first quarter, a 5-yard touchdown to Twayne Blackwell in the second quarter, and he made it 20-0 when he connected with Jonathan Heasley for a score in the third quarter.

Nolan quarterback Jacob Walden rushed for 192 yards and put the Vikings (2-6, 1-4) on the board with 9:52 left in the fourth quarter. Nolan pulled to within 27-14 when Walden connected with Adam Moore for a 42-yard touchdown with less than a minute left in the game.
