Denton Guyer quarterback Shawn Robinson accounted for six touchdowns, and the Wildcats foiled every Keller Fossil Ridge opportunity until it didn’t matter, as Guyer beat the Panthers 43-3 on Friday night at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex.
Guyer (6-0, 3-0 District 5-6A) scored on six of its nine possessions, including a 21-yard strike from Robinson to David Haynes to get the scoring started less than three minutes into the first quarter.
Keller Fossil Ridge (5-1, 2-1) then went three and out, which led to another Robinson touchdown, this time a 9-yard run.
The Panthers showed some life offensively, getting a first down after a 15-yard run from Keshawn Mitchell. But after an incomplete pass and rush for no gain, Bryce Baccarrini’s pass was intercepted by Jordan Wallace.
Fossil Ridge responded with an interception on the next play, but the result was another unproductive possession.
Mitchell converted on second-and-1, but a holding penalty negated the run. Anthony Smith rushed for 10 yards, setting up third-and-1. But the next snap went awry.
