Nolan Catholic prevails after goal-line stop

On a fourth and goal from the 1-yard line with only 34 seconds remaining, Dane Hucklebridge and Adam Moore crashed through to drop Addison Trinity Christian’s running back for a loss and preserve a 36-29 win for Nolan Catholic just moments before Friday’s storm hit Doskocil Stadium.

Trinity Christian, behind the passing of Christian Hutzler and the running of Nahshon Ellerbe fought back from large deficits throughout the game and came within inches of pulling even when receiver Parker Oliver was knocked out of bounds at the 1 on a third-down completion from the 9-yard line. Nolan coach Joe Prudhomme called a timeout and the Vikings made the big play to win their first TAPPS D 1-1 game of the season.

Early on it was all Nolan with quarterback Jacob Walden directing the way. The Vikings got their ball-control offense on track in rolling to a 22-0 lead in the first half.

Walden capped an opening 10-play drive by Nolan Catholic with a 24-yard run with 5:36 left in the first period. Then on a surprise extra-point play, Nicholas Boudreaux ran over for an additional two points to give the Vikings an 8-0 lead.

Nolan improves to 2-4..
