Fort Worth Arlington Heights had a big first half and never looked back, defeating Fort Worth Wyatt 52-15 Thursday in a District 7-5A football game at Clark Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets (6-0, 2-0 District 7-5A) scored four times in the first half, going up 30-7 at the break. The win keeps Heights on pace with undefeated Fort Worth South Hills.
Deion Hair’Griffin only completed four passes in the opening half for Arlington Heights, but all four were for touchdowns to three receivers.
Hair’Griffin found Brennan Bibbs on the Yellow Jackets’ opening drive for a 13-yard score then found Tyler Kelly for a 56-yard touchdown on the first play of their second drive.
Following an interception from defensive back Collin Rynd, the offense went right down the field as Hair’Griffin found Da’von Davis for a 23-yard score with 6:13 left in the second. He found Bibbs again from 20 yards out as the quarter ended.
Hair’Griffin went 7-for-15 for 114 yards while Kerrion Graves had a team-high 61 yards rushing on eight carries.
Terrence Gilliam, Dunson Woodard and Kevin Bowie scored rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter as the Yellow Jackets rushed for 215 yards on 32 carries. Raylon Jones and Kendall Washington blocked a Wyatt punt that set up Woodward’s score.
The Chaparrals (2-5, 2-1) outrushed the Yellow Jackets with 241 yards, led by Javonte Adams’ 163 yards on 15 carries.
Adams had a 2-yard touchdown in the first half then added an 84-yarder with 4:26 left to play. Adams rushed nine times for 149 yards after halftime. He also had a 24-yard pass to Barry Handy in the second quarter.
