The UIL Texas high school baseball regional finals are here.

Seven Fort Worth-area teams remain and are searching for state semifinal berths.

Keller to face Prosper in Class 6A Division I regional final

Keller (31-8) is one series win away from a state semifinal berth in Texas high school baseball’s largest classification.

The Indians will start their series against No. 10 Prosper (30-8-1) at 6:30 on Thursday, May 22, at Jesuit High School. One player to watch is Keller junior Cole Koeninger, a Tennessee pledge and a versatile, highly productive player.

In the regional semifinals against Hebron, Koeninger allowed two hits and one earned run in five innings. He struck out 11 batters, setting the tone for a 7-1 victory.

Keller’s pitching has been a strong suit. In game one against Hebron, Nathan Quickstad and Logan Brown were both efficient, allowing zero runs. Quickstad started the game, allowing three hits and striking out seven in 5 1/3 innings. Brown then took over, allowing zero hits en route to a 2-0 victory.

Keller’s longest playoff run came in 2021 when the Indians made it to the Class 6A state championship and fell to Rockwall Heath.

Southlake Carroll looks to get back to state tournament

Southlake Carroll baseball has proven itself to be one of Texas’ elite programs with five state championship wins (1982, 2002, 2018, 2019, 2022). The Dragons’ three most recent titles have come within the last eight seasons.

Since a state title win in 2022, however, the Dragons have missed the state tournament in consecutive seasons. Now, they’ll have a chance to get back to a semifinal.

Southlake Carroll (30-7-1), ranked No. 2 by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, will face No. 6 Flower Mound Marcus (28-10) in a three-game Class 6A Division II regional final series starting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22. All three games will be at Dallas Baptist University.

Two players to watch include starting pitchers Jack Fuller and Ethan Baiotto, two of the best in Texas. Baiotto is a Tennessee pledge, while Fuller is a Weatherford College commit. They both posted quality starts against Denton Guyer.

Aledo, Colleyville Heritage to clash in Class 5A Division I regional final

Two of the premier programs within the Fort Worth-area will clash in the Class 5A Division I Region One final: Aledo (29-7) and Colleyville Heritage (22-12-1).

Game one of the series is slated for 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at Birdville High School.

Aledo is looking to add to its storied legacy in Texas high school athletics. The Bearcats last won a baseball state title in the 2014 season.

Colleyville Heritage won a Class 5A state championship in the 2019 season and will aim to make it back to the state tournament for the first time since.

Grapevine to face Lubbock Cooper in quest to defend state title

Grapevine, the 2024 Class 5A state champions, is looking to win consecutive titles.

In a Class 5A Division II regional final, the No. 1 ranked Mustangs (31-3) will face Lubbock Cooper (31-15). Game one is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23, at Brownwood High School.

Grapevine cruised to victory in the regional semifinals, shutting out Wylie in both games. Freshman Luke Esquivel, in game one, allowed two hits and zero earned runs, striking out eight batters. In game two, senior Lale Esquivel allowed three hits and zero earned runs, striking out five.

Keep an eye on the Esquivel brothers to make an impact as Grapevine continues its playoff run.

Brock, Boyd look to continue playoff runs

Brock (28-3), in its first year in Class 4A, is looking for a state semifinal berth.

The Eagles will face Graham, a school they have some history with. Brock football, after losing to Graham 38-0 in the regular season, defeated Graham in a regional final rematch.

Now, the two schools will have another regional final match, but this time, it’ll be on a baseball field. In a rare move for Texas high school baseball, the Eagles and Steers will play a winner-takes-all one-game. It’s slated for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Tarleton State University.

In Class 3A Division II, Boyd (31-5) will face New Diana (26-7-1).

After a Class 3A state championship win in 2023, the Boyd Yellowjackets were eliminated in the regional finals in 2024. Now, they’re looking to make it back to the state tournament.

Game one is slated for noon on Thursday, May 22, at Dallas Baptist University.
