Southlake Carroll setter commits to dream school, beach volleyball at Southern Cal

Southlake Carroll rising junior setter Mabyn Thomas announced her commitment to play beach volleyball at the University of Southern California on Instagram Wednesday.

“I’d like to thank my parents along with my coaches,” Thomas said. “So grateful to play the sport I love at my dream school.”

Thomas was voted second team all-district last season after posting a team-high 853 assists along with 341 digs, 150 kills, 22 blocks and 21 aces for the Dragons.

Thomas recorded double-digit assists in 39 of 43 games and averaged 6.8 assists per set.

She posted at least 20 assists 17 times, including an average of 33.5 assists per match in her final 12 outings. Thomas had a career-high 58 assists against Denton Guyer on Oct. 4 and 43 and 57 assists in two playoff games.

The Dragons went 31-12 overall last season and 10-4 in District 5-6A with a trip to the area round.
