Mansfield Summit 2019 QB Brysen McKinney has committed to Texas State.

McKinney had a career year in 2017. He accounted for over 2,600 yards of total offense and 31 TDs. The Jaguars went 8-5 and made their first appearance in the regional round since 2005.

Summit beat Crowley and Dallas Spruce before being eliminated by state champ Highland Park.

McKinney rushed for 14 TDs, and had at least one in 10 games.

Mansfield Summit quarterback Brysen McKinney rushed for 62 yards and three scores and added 128 passing yards and another TD as the Jaguars blanked Fort Worth Paschal 45-0.

In other Summit news, former football and soccer standout Jovi Munoz is transferring to UT-Dallas to play soccer. Munoz was on the Oklahoma State football roster in 2017.

During the 2015 season, Munoz kicked a 58-yard field goal as time expired in the first half vs. Mansfield.

Munoz was a member of the 2016 Star-Telegram all-area team. In 10 games, he went 29 of 31 on extra points, and 6 of 9 on field goal attempts.

He was an all-region pick during the 2017 soccer season, and voted district MVP in 2016.
