SOFTBALL/BASEBALL: Keller softball run-rules Frenship, FW Paschal, Carroll sweep


Keller 10, Wolfforth Frenship 0

Dylann Kaderka threw a no-hitter with six strikeouts and the two-time defending champs hit three home runs to win a one-game playoff, and secure a spot in the regional quarterfinals for the sixth-straight season.

LSU commit Hayden Brown belted her sixth home run in the second. Tessa Galipeau doubled in a run in the fourth and scored on Hanna Jones’ fourth home run of the year.

Galipeau added another RBI in the fifth and Iowa State signee Kasey Simpson ended the game with a two-run homer in the sixth, her eighth of the season.

The Indians (29-2-1) will play Mansfield (29-0-1) in the third round.

Keller Timber Creek 8, Odessa Permian 2

Sydney Smith broke a scoreless tie in the fifth with an RBI single to left field and the Falcons went on to score four times to tie their area-round series at 1-1.

Game 3 is 10 a.m. Saturday at Abilene Christian University.

Oklahoma State signee Mady Lohman followed Smith with an RBI double and Sarah Hawkins added an RBI single. Timber Creek (20-9) scored four more in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run single from Karizma White.

Rylee Layton allowed seven hits in the complete game, and pitched six-scoreless innings before Permian (30-3) scored both runs in the seventh.

Haslet Eaton 11, Richland 1

The Eagles scored five times in the second and Abilene Christian commit Maddy Wright threw a two-hitter as Eaton run-ruled the Rebels to tie their series.

Game 3 is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Eaton.

Richland (14-11), which won Game 1, 3-2, scored first with an RBI from Krystal Lindsey, but Eaton (26-7) went up 5-1 after two thanks to a bases-clearing double from Ashlyn Walker.

North Texas commit Jaden Middlebrook doubled in the third and Paige Tamayo ended the game in the fifth with a two-run single to center field. Vivica Hernandez added two RBIs.


FW Paschal 6, Weatherford 3

The Panthers got out to a 6-0 lead after scoring five runs in the sixth to complete the sweep against the Kangaroos.

Paschal (23-8-1) recorded a two-out RBI double in the first inning from Aubrey Morris, who went 3 for 3 on the night. Ramsay added a two-run double in the sixth.

“Blake had a huge double down the line with two strikes to get us going,” Paschal coach Darrell Preston said. “We had aggressive base running to add a couple more. This is a senior-led team and they keep battling. We’re just blessed to be moving on and playing one more week.”

Ramsay made a diving catch in center during the second inning and doubled off a Weatherford runner at second base. Right-fielder Drew Le threw a runner out at home in the fourth.

Weatherford (16-14-1) scored all three runs in the sixth on a two-run triple from Lukas Loran and RBI single by Pierce Morris.

Southlake Carroll 7, Plano 3

Will Quillen drove in two runs and senior right-hander Nicco Cole allowed four hits and struck out eight as the Dragons beat the Wildcats in Game 2 to complete the sweep.

Carroll (26-6) won Game 1, 12-1.

The Dragons started the third inning by loading the bases and Cole Johnson singled in a run. Nik Millsap added an RBI ground out and Quillen sacrificed in another run.

Kyle Warden, Jorge Figueroa and Jake Miller also recorded RBIs for Carroll.

Plano (19-13) scored all three runs in the fourth.

Trophy Club Nelson 2, Allen 0

Josh Caraway hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and senior right-hander Javier Luna threw a four-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Bobcats (13-17-1) tied their series with the Eagles.

Game 3 is 1 p.m. Saturday at Allen.

The Eagles (23-9-1) won Game 1, 2-1 in nine innings.

Denton Braswell 9, Aledo 8

Nathan Love’s two-run double to left field capped off a five-run third inning and the Bengals hung on to beat the Bearcats in Game 1 of their three-game bi-district series.

Game 2 is 3 p.m. Saturday at Justin Northwest.

With no outs in the top of the seventh, Aledo’s Hunter Rosson blasted a three-run home run, but the Bearcats (21-8-1) were shut down in order to close the game.

The Bengals (20-11-1) tied it at 2-2 in the second inning with an RBI single by Tanner Landino and RBI double from Logan Quan.

Aledo led 3-2 in the third when Rosson recorded an RBI triple to left-center. He finished with five RBIs. Vaughn Shields’ RBI triple in the fourth pulled the Bearcats within 7-4.

Brant Bennett added an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth and Love’s RBI single in the sixth made it 9-5.
