UT Arlington outscored Louisiana-Lafayette 39-19 in the second half Saturday and beat the Ragin’ Cajuns 57-51 at the Cajundome.
It was the third straight victory for the Mavericks (12-9, 6-6 Sun Belt), who rode the hot shooting of freshmen Rebekah Van Dijk and Cierra Johnson and junior Toma Zaleckaite.
Van Dijk earned her 11th double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Johnson and Zaleckaite added 13 points apiece.
“Each game from this point forward is a big win,” UTA coach Krista Gerlich said. “We are trying to position ourselves to get into the [Sun Belt] tournament and finish strong in the conference. Each win after this is our biggest win.”
