But UT Arlington plays on, even if the Mavericks would gladly trade their tournament for a twirl in the Big Dance.
The Mavericks travel northeast to play New Jersey Institute of Technology at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament looking to earn a school record 25th win of the season.
While it’s not as prestigious as the NCAA tournament — or even the NIT — the Mavericks (24-10) are making the most of the CIT.

28The largest lead for UTA during last week’s 75-59 win over Savannah State in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
They had little trouble with Savannah State in last week’s 75-59 win over the Tigers in which they led by 28 in the second half. That earned them a second round bye.
NJIT beat Army and Boston University to advance.
The Highlanders (19-14) are led by Damon Lynn and Tim Coleman, who’ve combined to sink 150 3-pointers this season. Lynn scored 31 points in Monday’s win over Boston University.
But no team in the Sun Belt made more 3-pointers than UTA. Drew Charles and Jalen Jones both scored 19 points in the win over Savannah State.
