Texas Wesleyan men’s basketball season ended Thursday morning with a 91-88 loss to Campbellsville (Ky.) University in the first round of the NAIA tournament.

Campbellsville (23-10) shot 56 percent and hit 13 3-pointers, including five in the first six minutes to take a 22-14 lead.

Jerell Ellis led Wesleyan (24-8) with a game-high 23 points.

This season marked a turnaround for the Rams, who were 15-15 and 4-14 in the Sooner Athletic Conference a year ago. They won their first SAC regular season championship since joining the league in 2012 and had a 12-game winning streak in January and February.
