UT Arlington forward Kevin Hervey became the first Mavericks player drafted in 36 years when the Oklahoma City Thunder selected him with the No. 57 pick on Thursday night.
Hervey, who played at Arlington Bowie, is UTA's all-time leader in rebounds and second in points and field goals. His 36 double-doubles are a Mavs' record. He led UTA in scoring in last three seasons, including 20.5 points a game in 33 games in 2018.
The two-time first team All-Sun Belt Conference player scored the second-most points in a season with 676, two shy of the program record.
