Politics really is all or nothing these days.
So get this, President Barack Obama made his annual NCAA tournament picks with ESPN’s Andy Katz and he made one pretty bold pick, selecting the No. 3-seed Texas A&M Aggies to advance to their first Final Four.
Clearly, Obama wasn’t playing politics with his pick. He knows Texas A&M fans are overwhelmingly politically. He apparently likes the veteran leadership of Billy Kennedy’s club, and there’s nothing red or blue about that, just a whole lot of maroon.

Obama could have picked the much bluer No. 6-seed Texas Longhorns, led by first-year coach Shaka Smart — who is no stranger to March Madness — to upset the Aggies in the Round of 32. But he’s got A&M winning it, and then beating Oklahoma in the Sweet 16 and Duke in the Elite Eight.
Aggies fans, however, don’t seem all that thrilled that Obama picked their team to get to Houston for the Final Four. It’s almost as if they think he — gulp — just doomed them to not make it.
SB Nation’s Texas A&M-themed website GoodBullHunting.com, posted Obama’s NCAA tourney bracket on Facebook.
Then the comments started to roll in. You get the feeling that A&M fans would have preferred if Obama had picked their Ags to get bounced in Friday’s opener against No. 14 Green Bay just so they could disagree with him.
Here’s a sampling of comments:
“I don’t want that POS rooting for my team. I’ll root twice as loud if he’ll leave us alone.”
“We’re required to register as democrats now.”
“That’s not good. His judgement is questionable.”
“Obozo such cursed our chances.”
“Welp, we’re screwed for sure now...lol”
“Great the jinx is in #ThanksObama
“don’t want his support”
To be fair, some fans were able to separate their political leanings from a favorable basketball pick (sort of):
“Good pick Mr. President!”
“the best thing Obama has done in 7 years!!!!”
“He may have FINALLY done something right.”
“First statement I have ever agreed with him on! Gig em!”
“I try to keep my political views and sports views separate. I for one support anyone that supports Texas A&M. #gigem”
“POTUS knows BBALL!”

Hopefully all Aggies fans, even though it might be painful, really do hope the president gets this one right.
