Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, an Arlington Martin graduate, joined two Baylor players (receiver KD Cannon and linebacker Taylor Young) and Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine as members of the 2014 Freshman All-America Team, selected by the Football Writers Association of America.
Nine of the 30 honorees announced Wednesday played their high school football in Texas.
Cannon played at Mount Pleasant, Young at DeSoto and Perine at Pflugerville.
Other honorees from Texas included Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett (Wichita Falls Rider), Brigham Young offensive lineman Tejan Koroma (Allen), Arkansas State defensive lineman Ja’Von Rolland-Jones (Mesquite), Tulsa linebacker Craig Suits (Mesquite Poteet) and Kansas State kicker Matthew McCrane (Brownwood).
