TCU and Baylor, the teams that shared last year’s Big 12 football championship, earned Top-5 national rankings in the Athlon magazine preseason college football rankings released today.

Baylor received the No. 3 slot in the magazine’s preseason poll and TCU checked in at No. 5. Ohio State is No. 1, followed by Alabama at 2 and Auburn at 4. Rounding out the Top 10 are USC, Michigan State, Oregon, Florida State and Georgia.

With five selections each, the reigning Big 12 co-champs also joined Oklahoma and West Virginia with the most first-team players on the magazine’s 2015 preseason All-Big 12 team.

Texas joined Iowa State and Kansas as the only schools that did not produce a first-team honoree. The other seven schools had at least two first-teamers each. A school-by-school breakdown of first-team honorees: TCU (5), Baylor (5), Oklahoma (5), West Virginia (5), Kansas State (2), Oklahoma State (2) and Texas Tech (2).
