Texas Tech Red Raiders

Texas Tech signings: Late flip at WR boosts class

Offense: The Red Raiders took a hit when top quarterback recruit Jarrett Stidham flipped his commitment to Baylor, just weeks before he was set to enroll in classes at Tech. But speedy RB Corey Dauphine and linemen Madison Akamnonu and Conner Dyer all have potential to be key pieces in the offense. Also, the late flip of four-star WR J.F. Thomas from TCU was a highlight of National Signing Day for Texas Tech.

Defense: Breiden Fehoko, a four-star defensive tackle and Under Armour All-American from Hawaii, anchors Tech’s defensive class. The Red Raiders also flipped D’Vonta Hinton, another solid prospect at linebacker.

Immediate impact: As a consensus four-star, Dyer could see the field early along the offensive line. Fehoko surely will on a defense that has struggled in Kliff Kingsbury’s first two seasons. Dauphine, a state champion sprinter, projects nicely as a weapon in the Red Raiders’ spread offense.
