DeAndre Washington, a two-time 1,000-yard rusher for Texas Tech, went to the Oakland Raiders Saturday with the No. 150 pick in the NFL Draft. A Houston native, Washington is undersized (5-foot-8, 204 pounds) but quick. He has been timed at 4.49 at the 40-yard dash which, combined with his elusiveness, should make him productive at the next level, said ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay.
“You’ve got to find guys who can create yards on their own and DeAndre Washington is one of those guys,” McShay said in Saturday’s telecast. “He’s quick. He’s a little short, but so what? He’s productive.”
McShay said Washington will have to shore up his ball security skills to maximize his value to the Raiders.
