Elliott Barzilli, whose only hit of the postseason last year won a regional championship for TCU, drove in the go-ahead runs with a two-run single in the eighth inning to lift the Horned Frogs past Gonzaga 4-3 in the Fort Worth Regional on Saturday night.

Barzilli punched a single over the head of second baseman Justin Jacobs with two outs to score Austen Wade and Cam Warner.

TCU (44-15) advances to play at 6:30 tonight against the winner of the elimination game between Gonzaga and Arizona State at 2 p.m. today. The Horned Frogs would have to lose tonight and Monday not to win the regional championship.

Barzilli singled in the 10th inning a year ago against N.C. State to drive in the winning run that finished an epic comeback for TCU. It was his only hit and RBI of last year’s postseason.

This year, as the starting third baseman, he is tied for the team lead in hits and is 3-for-9 with two RBIs in two postseason games. Six days ago, his left eye was swelled shut after he was hit by a ball that took a bad hop in the Big 12 cham pionship game at Oklahoma City.

TCU trailed 3-2 after Jeffrey Bohling’s three-run homer for Gonzaga in the bottom of the sixth inning. It was just the fifth hit against TCU starter Jared Janczak and ended a string of 20 consecutive scoreless innings by TCU pitching.

TCU led 1-0 in the second inning on Dane Steinhagen’s RBI ground out. Cam Warner’s single in the third inning scored Wade and gave TCU a 2-0 lead.

Eli Morgan, who gave up nine runs in 3  1/3 innings in a start against TCU at Lupton Stadium in March, struck out eight in the first five innings and pitched into the eighth. With one out, Wade and Warner singled, but Morgan recovered with a fly ball from Evan Skoug.

On a 1-0 pitch, Luken Baker’s checked-swing resulted in an infield hit to load the bases. Barzilli followed and hit his single. Baker has reached base safely in 31 straight games and has hit safely in seven straight.

Freshman closer Durbin Feltman got the save, his seventh of the season, with two scoreless innings.
