TCU golfer Giulio Castagnara fired a 1-over 71 in the final round Tuesday to finish second with a three-day total of 9-over 221 at the Redhawk Intercollegiate at famed Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash.
It was a career best finish for the junior from Italy, who entered the final day tied for second. he carded 11 consecutive pars to open the final round before back-to-back birdies on Nos. 12 and 13, but finished one shot behind Washington’s Jonathan Sanders, who shot even par in the final round.
The Frogs finished second after shooting a final-day 285 — the best team score of the day. In addition to Castagnara, Pierre Mazier (T13) and Paul Barjon (T17) were 1-over on the final day, and Steffano Mazzoli (T35) was 2-over to lead the TCU, which overcame a five stroke deficit on Oregon, which finished third. Washington won the tournament, 11 shots better than TCU.

Andrew Sirowy finished in a tie for 28th and UT Arlington tied for 15th in the team standings on the final day of the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship in West Point, Miss. Sirowy shot a 5-over-par 77 in the third round for a total of 224.
