TCU men’s basketball made another late addition to its 2026-27 roster with the signing of a top international prospect.
The Horned Frogs announced the signing of Ricards Aizpurs from Latvia. The 6-foot-6 guard played for Star Alliance in Italy last season. Aizpurs has also been a part of the Stella Azzurra program, a development academy renowned across Europe for producing elite-level talent.
In the 2024-25 season, Aizpurs averaged 33.6 points per game in Italian U17 competition, while also putting up 18 points per game playing up at the U18 level as a 16-year old.
“The 17-year-old, 6’6 Latvian is considered among the top prospects in his age group in Europe;” ESPN draft analyst Jonathan Givony said on X. “A strong, skilled wing with toughness, shot-creation ability, shot-making, and passing feel.”
Aizpurs represented Latvia at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2024 and averaged 18.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
Aizpurs joins spring signees Luke Bamgboye, Sam Fleming, Ryan Hunt, Trent Lincoln, Gavin Murphy, Miloš Šojić, Gavin Sykes and DJ Thomas as newcomers for the upcoming season.
The Horned Frogs also returned Xavier Edmonds, Micah Robinson, Brock Harding and Tanner Toolson from last year’s NCAA Tournament team.
