TCU guard Olivia Miles leads Team USA to gold medal at AmeriCup
TCU guard Olivia Miles helped lead Team USA to a Gold Medal in the AmeriCup championship against Brazil on Sunday night in Santiago, Chile.
Miles scored eight points and added nine assists as Team USA beat Brazil 92-84. The Brazilian team was led by Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso, teammate of former TCU star Hailey Van Lith.
Miles led the entire tournament in assists per game and had 10 assists in Team USA’s win over Mexico, it was the most assists ever by an American player in the event. It was also Miles’ second time winning a FIBA gold medal.
Miles committed to TCU in April after becoming one of the best guards in the country at Notre Dame. Miles was a two-time All-American and three-time All-ACC selection with the Fighting Irish and was largely expected to be a top-three pick in the WNBA Draft.
Instead she’ll spend her final season in Fort Worth, taking over for Van Lith who was voted the Big 12 Player of the Year and led TCU to the Elite Eight.
IMiles is one of the best floor generals in the country and excels at elevating her teammates like she did during the AmeriCup.
