TCU point guard Frankie Collins out for remainder of the season
TCU point guard Frankie Collins will miss the remainder of the season, the school announced Friday afternoon.
The Arizona State transfer broke his foot in the first half of TCU’s 83-74 defeat to Vanderbilt on Dec. 8. Collins led TCU in scoring (11.2 points), assists (4.4) and steals (1.9). Now TCU will be without its floor general and best perimeter defender with Big 12 play just around the corner.
Vasean Allette figures to be the next man up in the lineup. The Old Dominion transfer has started two games this season and is averaging 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists. The Horned Frogs will also lean more on Noah Reynolds going forward as he takes over more of the ball handling duties. Reynolds is second on the team averaging 3.4 assists.
TCU will also have a decision to make in regards to the redshirt status of guards Ashton Simmons and RJ Jones. The plan was for both to redshirt, but now TCU will likely need at least one to move up in the rotation.
The Horned Frogs will face South Alabama at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16.
