TCU women’s basketball forfeits two Big 12 games due to injuries
TCU women’s basketball next two games against No. 7 Kansas State and No. 24 Iowa State on Wednesday and Saturday have been canceled due to injuries within the program.
The Horned Frogs were down to six scholarship players after a number of players sustained injuries in practice Tuesday.
Both games will count as forfeits and will not be made up, but the forfeits will only impact TCU’s Big 12 record. The Horned Frogs started 14-0 including a win over BYU to start Big 12 play, but have lost four in a row to Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas and Houston.
Among the injuries is starting point guard Jaden Owens, who TCU announced yesterday suffered a torn ACL and meniscus against Houston on Saturday. Owens averaged 8.4 points and 7.2 assists per game prior to her injury.
Leading scorer Sedona Prince has missed the last three games. Prince was one of the catalyst to TCU’s hot start as she averaged 21.2 points per game, 10.6 rebounds and 3.3 blocks in 14 games.
