TCU injury report for the Oklahoma game: The latest on Max Duggan, Zach Evans
TCU quarterback Max Duggan is going to give it a go tonight at No. 4 Oklahoma. Running back Zach Evans will not.
Duggan went through pregame warmups, working with the first team. Duggan has been battling an injury this week, coach Gary Patterson revealed at his midweek news conference.
Evans did not take the field with the rest of the RB corps for warmups and later joined them in street clothes. Kendre Miller, Daimarqua Foster and Emari Demercado will handle the RB workload.
Miller took reps with the first team.
As far as Duggan, it’s unknown how limited he may be in the game. Matthew Downing is TCU’s backup quarterback.
Duggan is 75 of 116 passing for 1,003 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s also rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Downing has played in two games this season, in the opener against Duquesne and the final offensive series last week at Texas Tech.
Wide receiver Quentin Johnston will return after missing the Texas Tech game with a knee injury. Johnston injured his knee on the final play of the first half against Texas two weeks ago.
Fellow wide receiver JD Spielman is not expected to play for a second straight week. Neither is guard Wes Harris. Brandon Coleman will make his third consecutive start at guard.
Among the defensive players sidelined for TCU include linebacker Wyatt Harris and safeties Deshawn McCuin and Bud Clark.
With Wyatt Harris out, Jamoi Hodge will start at linebacker. The starting safeties are expected to be T.J. Carter, Nook Bradford and La’Kendrick VanZandt.
The defense will have cornerback Noah Daniels and defensive tackle Corey Bethley available in limited capacity. Bethley was working with the first-team at defensive tackle.
