Strong pitching helps TCU complete sweep of West Virginia

Alex Young gave up three hits over eight innings, leading fifth-ranked TCU to a 5-0 victory Sunday and a sweep of its Big 12 series against West Virginia.

The Frogs (37-9, 13-5 Big 12) swept their third conference series of the season and have won six consecutive Big 12 games.

Young ran his record to 9-2 by giving up only two walks and struck out eight. Both walks were to leadoff batters, but both were erased on a double play.

TCU scored single runs in the first, third, sixth, eighth and ninth innings.

Cody Jones led TCU with three hits. Garrett Crain had two hits and two RBIs.

Trey Teakell pitched the ninth inning, giving up two hits, but he struck out two.
