Megan Smith of TCU broke the school record in the women’s shot put with a throw of 56-5  3/4 on Friday at the TCU Invitational.

The previously record was 56-4  3/4 set by Stevanie Wadsorth-Ferguson in 1993.

Ronnie Baker won the 100-meter dash with a wind-aided time of 9.95. That time tops the NCAA Division I West qualifying list.

Brianna McGhee won the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.27, just .03 off of her school record.

Jeremy Wariner finished second in the 200-meter dash with a 21.09. The former Arlington Lamar and Baylor star was beaten by former Baylor standout Marcus Boyd, who ran a 21.01.

Those were the two fastest times of the day in the event.

UTA baseball

UT Arlington’s Sun Belt Conference baseball game at South Alabama on Friday was postponed because of rain.

The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. today.

Ford, OSU part

Longtime basketball Travis Ford “mutually parted ways” with Oklahoma State, the school said Friday.

Ford was Oklahoma State for eight seasons and had a record of 155-111, including a conference record of 63-75.

The Cowboys were 12-20 this season and 3-15 in the Big 12 play.

“I like Travis Ford and his family,” athletics director Mike Holder said. “He worked very hard at his job. Unfortunately, we have to move on.”
