Jimmy Burch’s picks for this week’s Big 12 games:

No. 3 TCU 49, SMU 17 (7 p.m. Saturday, FSN): Horned Frogs keep the Iron Skillet with ease, but the Mustangs find the end zone this year.

California 35, Texas 24 (6:30 p.m. Saturday, KDFW/Ch. 4): Longhorns’ young defenders remain too much in transition mode to stop the high-flying Golden Bears.

No. 16 Oklahoma 41, Tulsa 24 (11 a.m. Saturday, FS1): Sooners get a measure of payback against Tulsa coach Philip Montgomery, who embarrassed them the last two years as Baylor’s offensive play-caller.

Oklahoma State 38, UTSA 14 (2:30 p.m. Saturday, FS1): Cowboys validate their spot in the Top 25 rankings, build momentum for next week’s Big 12 opener at Texas.

Arkansas 45, Texas Tech 34 (6 p.m. Saturday, ESPN2): Red Raiders picked a bad week to play a bunch of Razorbacks in search of redemption.

Kansas State 28, Louisiana Tech 16 (2 p.m. Saturday, FSN): Wildcats complete another sweep of September cupcakes but this one will be the closest margin of the bunch.

Toledo 24, Iowa State 20 (2 p.m. Saturday, ESPNNews): If Toledo can win at Arkansas, the Rockets can handle the Cyclones in Toledo.

Last week: 10-0

Season: 18-2
